Doctor or Bust....

... That's how it was for me until a week ago!

Here's the story. Since the beginning, my parents have wanted me to become a doctor. It's like it was decided at birth, that this would be my fate. And so, my whole up-bringing has been geared towards making into a doctor. Obviously, my parents have tried to ensure that my academic skills are no less than elite, and they have been successful to an extent, but I think all that changes when it comes to A-levels. You can have all the natural talent in the world, but you still need to work your ass of to get A's in A-levels. And then there's my social life...or what's left of it. My parents have always absolutely HATED the idea of me having a social life because I could "get influenced" by others. Now, I don't know about you, but I agree with them in part, but I don't think that should mean to try and cut me off from society completely. Anyways, I was always held back from going out with my friends, be it to a party, down to the local park or even to their house! But I managed to slip some outings in here and there, so I got I survived.

However! Since I started college, believe it or not, they actually got more strict! Hard to believe, but sadly true. But that was only for a little while. Now, remember from my last post, I said that I got rejected from Bristol AND Queen Mary Unis for medicine? Well, it seems that this had quite a profound affect on my parents, and recently, they told me that I don't have to do medicine. You can imagine how I felt.....well, maybe not. I was absolutely dumbfounded! Here is a kid who, for his whole life, has been told that every other profession other than Medical was obsolete and would result in my life being ruined, and suddenly, I get told that "you know what we've been preparing you for your whole life, you don't have to do it anymore" .... I was infuriated as well as eternally relieved. This meant that I could finally relax! (well...just a bit, I still wanna do dentistry, which is almost as tough as medicine). They said to me that I can that or  do biomedical or something similar at a local university, and go into dentistry OR medicine as a graduate, which I think is reasonable. But they could have told me this like in the summer so I could have applied for those courses then! Now I have to wait a whole YEAR until I can reapply, which is a damn pain. But oh well, I'm just glad that they've finally seen reason. This will make my life that much easier from now on.

Well, I guess I better be off, I've got an infinite amount of revision to do for Core 3 Maths D= , ooh and there's that bloody biology coursework as well (This weekend is gonna be a busy one =S).
Catch ya later people!

=D
